BIOSOFT MBR Overview & Working Principle

GreenPebble Technologies' BIOSOFT Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) is an advanced system for treating industrial effluent and domestic wastewater. It combines biological degradation, where microbes break down pollutants using with membrane filtration.

The conventional activated sludge process uses settling tanks for solids separation, with inefficient performance and a bigger operational footprint.

Main advantages of GreenPebble's BIOSOFT MBR system is as follows:

- superior quality product water (removing fine particles, microbes, micro pollutants)

- compact operational footprint (without large settling tanks)

- reliable operation

- minimal fouling and operational disruptions

- energy-efficient process operations

MBRs replace this with membrane filtration, removing finer particles and microbes for better quality. Membranes improve efficiency by maintaining higher biomass for efficient pollutant removal, improve productivity with smaller units, and advance sustainability through less sludge, energy savings, and reusable water.

MBR Process Flow Diagram and Key Unit Operations

MBR process integrates biological activated sludge aeration process with membrane filtration.

Wastewater mixes with microbial culture in an aerated tank for organic and nutrient degradation.

Mixed liquor passes through submerged ultrafiltration membranes (0.01-0.4 μm pores), retaining solids and microbes while permeating clean effluent.

Key Features: permeate flux (10-150 LMH), TMP 0.6 bar, and permeability via air scouring or crossflow, in submerged or sidestream configurations.
